Religious Services Specialist

The Religious Services Specialist provides spiritual and pastoral care to all detainees and also facilitates their opportunity to pursue their individual religious beliefs and practices in accordance with current law, Federal regulations, and the DHS Detention Standards. The Religious Services Specialist primary duty is to provide counseling, spiritual direction, support and crisis intervention to the detainees. The Religious Services Specialist role is to be a non-judgmental caring influence in the lives of all individuals, a visible model of respect and caring for each person in spiritual need. Presence is the vital aspect of the Religious Services Specialist's ministry throughout the facility.

Protection Officer

Job Location: Washington , DC
The main responsibilities of the incumbent will be: 1) To conduct Protection Issue/Awareness trainings domestically to affiliate agencies and CWS staff and internationally to partner agencies and CWS overseas staff; 2)To collaborate with Washington DC based agencies (InterAction and Refugee Council USA) on Protection related issues and initiatives; and 3) To coordinate all protection-related advocacy activities, especially on Capitol Hill. The Protection Officer will function as a part of the Durable Solutions for the Displaced Persons team and as such will participate in strategic planning and program development exercises. They will collaborate with the DC based Emergency Response Program Director, the Education & Advocacy Associate Director for Public Policy, and the Immigration and Refugee Program Advocacy Associate on behalf of the IRP DSPP team. They will maintain frequent communication with other CWS partners and constituents.
