Angola's countryside is littered with instruments of war. These women are walking past the ruins of an armored personnel carrier on the way to their fields in northern Uige province.

Conflict Resolution

Speak Out to Make a Difference
Resolving conflict and building peace is an ongoing process of healing brokenness and transforming injustice. Conflicts that have escalated into war and large-scale human rights violations require urgent attention. CWS is currently responding to crises created by conflict in Colombia, Iraq and Sudan.

Landmines are one legacy of conflict. They continue to kill and maim people long after war or active conflict. Many nations have agreed to completely and permanently discontinue the use and production of anti-personnel landmines, destroy stockpiles within four years, and clear mines within their own territory by 2009. Eradication of existing landmines in many former war-torn continues to be a challenge.
